Lean On Me - We Fix Fences

Do You Need to Be Home When the Fence Repair Technician Arrives?

You do not need to be home for a fence post repair, as long as the technician has access to the yard. It helps to mark the specific posts being repaired, ensure gates are unlocked, and let the technician know in advance that you will not be present — but the repair can proceed without you.

One of the most common reasons homeowners delay booking a fence repair is the belief that they need to be present on the day of the appointment. For many working households, finding a weekday window to stay home for a service call is genuinely inconvenient.

The short answer is: you do not need to be home. Lean On Me technicians can complete a post repair without the homeowner present, provided a few simple conditions are met.

H2: What the Technician Needs If You Won't Be Home

**Yard access:** If your yard has a locked gate, make sure it is unlocked before they arrive. If access requires going through a neighbouring property, let your neighbour know in advance.

**Marked posts:** If multiple posts exist but only some are being repaired, mark the specific ones clearly. Tying a piece of bright cord, ribbon, or tape around each post being repaired takes under a minute and eliminates any confusion.

**No pets unattended in the yard:** If you have a dog or other pets normally left in the yard, arrange to keep them inside on the day of the repair. Technicians cannot safely work in a yard with an unrestrained animal.

H2: When Being Home Is Helpful

While not required, being present at the start of the appointment is useful. A quick 5-minute walkthrough allows you to confirm the scope with the technician directly, point out anything not visible in the original photos, and be present if anything unexpected changes the scope or price before work starts.

H2: What Happens After the Repair If You're Not Home

The technician photographs the completed work before leaving. Photos are uploaded to your customer profile and you will receive your invoice by email automatically. Payment is handled through your self-serve portal at your convenience — there is nothing to sign on-site.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I leave a note for the technician if I won't be home?

Yes. A note on the gate or door — or a message sent through the booking system — works well. Simply indicate which posts are being repaired and any access notes the technician should know.

What if something unexpected comes up and the technician needs to reach me?

Technicians will call or text the phone number on file if they encounter an unexpected situation that requires your input before proceeding. Make sure the contact number on your booking is a number you can answer during the appointment window.

Will the technician let me know when the work is done if I'm not home?

The invoice being sent to your email serves as the completion notification. You can also log into your customer portal to see the completion photos as soon as they are uploaded.
