Lean On Me - We Fix Fences

Will the Fence Repair Price Change When the Technician Arrives?

The quoted price is almost always the price you pay. The only scenario that can increase the cost is if there are unexpected obstacles — concrete, large roots, or rocks — at the base of the post that require extra digging beyond what was visible in the photos.

One of the most common concerns homeowners have before booking any trade service is whether the quoted price will hold — or whether the technician will arrive, assess the job in person, and announce a higher price before beginning work.

With Lean On Me, the quoted price is accurate and reliable in the vast majority of cases. Here is how pricing works, what can change it, and how you can virtually eliminate the possibility of a price adjustment on the day.

H2: How Pricing Is Set Before the Visit

Your quote is generated based on three factors: the size of your posts (4x4 or 6x6), the number of posts being repaired, and your location (which determines the regional pricing tier). The photos you submit allow the team to visually confirm the scope before the quote is finalized. Because the quote is based on this specific assessment, it is accurate for the job as described.

H2: The One Thing That Can Change the Price

The only variable that can add cost to a job on the day is an unexpected obstruction at the base of the post — specifically, buried concrete from a previous fence installation, a large root system, or substantial rocks that require extra digging to get below the frost line. These obstructions are not always visible in photos because they are below the surface. If a technician encounters one, they will stop, show you what they found, and explain what additional work is needed before proceeding. Nothing extra happens without your explicit approval.

H2: How to Prevent Day-Of Price Changes

Before your appointment, clear about 1.5 feet of space around the base of each post and check for visible concrete at the surface. If you can see old concrete footing from a previous post at the base, mention it when booking or let the technician know at the walkthrough. This allows the team to adjust the quote proactively, so there are no surprises on arrival.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don't agree with the additional charge the technician mentions?

You are under no obligation to proceed with the additional work. If the technician identifies a scope change and you decide not to authorize it, you can choose not to proceed with that particular post. The technician will complete any other posts in the original scope at the quoted price.

Can the price go down on the day?

Occasionally, yes. If the photos showed what appeared to be a more complex situation and the on-site assessment reveals it is simpler, the technician can adjust accordingly. This is less common but does happen.

Is there a charge if the technician arrives and decides he cannot do the repair at all?

No. If the technician determines that a post is not repairable, there is no charge for the visit. This is Lean On Me's standard policy.
